India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.92% By


on – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the rose 0.92%, while the index climbed 0.90%.

The best performers of the session on the were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:), which rose 4.42% or 97.65 points to trade at 2,305.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:) added 4.07% or 64.35 points to end at 1,647.00 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:) was up 3.27% or 149.75 points to 4,722.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Axis Bank Ltd (NS:), which fell 0.54% or 5.65 points to trade at 1,047.20 at the close. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:) declined 0.47% or 14.00 points to end at 2,971.70 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) was down 0.45% or 5.70 points to 1,248.10.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.91% to 1,643.05, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.98% to settle at 7,232.20 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.63% to close at 2,635.00.

The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.69% to 1,245.00 in late trade, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 0.67% to settle at 1,046.50 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.55% to 2,971.50 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 0 to 0; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 0 fell and 0 advanced.

Shares in Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; up 4.42% or 97.65 to 2,305.00.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.02% to 12.83.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.90% or 42.10 to $2,254.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.16% or 1.76 to hit $83.11 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $86.99 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.01% to 83.36, while EUR/INR rose 0.01% to 89.95.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 104.27.
