Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.39%

Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the gained 0.39%.

The best performers of the session on the were Advantest Corp. (TYO:), which rose 16.22% or 2,280.00 points to trade at 16,340.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:) added 4.45% or 114.00 points to end at 2,673.00 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 4.36% or 570.00 points to 13,640.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 4.38% or 210.00 points to trade at 4,581.00 at the close. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:) declined 4.08% or 135.00 points to end at 3,170.00 and Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was down 3.25% or 115.00 points to 3,420.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2044 to 1513 and 286 ended unchanged.

Shares in Advantest Corp. (TYO:) rose to all time highs; gaining 16.22% or 2,280.00 to 16,340.00. Shares in Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.36% or 570.00 to 13,640.00.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.60% to 19.00.

Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.67% or 0.50 to $73.84 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.51% or 0.40 to hit $77.96 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.15% or 3.00 to trade at $1,961.60 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.07% to 139.37, while EUR/JPY fell 0.32% to 149.45.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 104.00.
